what is gamescom? Event and Business Platform
What is gamescom? An official overview of the international games industry event and business platform in Cologne with online reach.
Short Answer
gamescom is an international games industry event and business platform in Cologne with online reach, according to its official 2026 description. The same official material names developers, trade visitors, companies, and players among the groups connected by the event.
A Player and Industry Event
The official description presents gamescom as both player-facing and industry-facing. Its wording brings together games, business, and community experiences, while describing the event as international and available through its Cologne presence and online reach.
This broad definition is more useful than treating gamescom as a single show or one stream. The collected material distinguishes gamescom Opening Night Live from the broader gamescom event, so an ONL announcement is part of the week’s activity rather than the complete definition of gamescom.
